The West has continually failed to understand the geography and culture of Central Asia. While most policymakers and "Talking HEads" seem to break Afghanistan and Pakistan into seemingly seperate areas of conflict, they do not look at the rest the region. Tajikistan is a perfect example and Der Spiegel has just published an interesting piece on how an radical Islamic uprising is on the way, again.
